Just the Facts:

History: Established in 1962 by the Franciscans of the Sacred Heart Province, the original sole purpose of Hales Franciscan High School was to educate young African American males at a time when there were few opportunities afforded them to receive a quality, private school education.

Over more than a half-century, the name Hales Franciscan has become a symbol of academic excellence, and hope and inspiration for the parents and children we serve.  This tradition of excellence permeates throughout all of the programs we currently operate under our independent, nonprofit, community board.

In addition to our high school program, Hales Franciscan also operates a facility sharing service, an after school and weekend public community school, and an education consulting and management service.

High School Mission: Provide learners of all ages with a values-based, future-focused education and character building program in a safe, loving and inspiring environment that develops them into individuals who are prepared for tomorrow’s opportunities, embrace academic excellence and life-long learning, embody wisdom and moral values, and become assets to their family and the world.

High School Financial Assistance: A high percentage of students receive financial assistance or scholarships. Hales Franciscan offers two types of assistance: merit or needs based. Many donors believe in the mission of Hales Franciscan and contribute significantly to keep tuition affordable for most of our parents.

Accreditation: Hales Franciscan High School is accredited by AdvancED, formerly known as the North Central Association, and recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education.
