Just the Facts:

History: With the strong support of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago and Mayor Richard J. Daley, Hales Franciscan High School was established by the Franciscans of the Sacred Heart Province in 1961 to provide African-American males with a high quality, Catholic, private school education.

For more than half a century, the name Hales Franciscan has been a recognized symbol of academic excellence, hope and inspiration for the parents and young men we serve.  A tradition of excellence is found in all of our programs.

In addition to our high school program, Hales Franciscan intermittently operates a facility sharing service, afterschool program, weekend community school and adult training program.

Mission: Provide our students with a values-based, future-focused Catholic education and character building program in a safe, loving and inspiring environment that develops them into men who are prepared for today’s and tomorrow’s opportunities, achieve academic excellence, embody moral values and are prepared for life success.

Financial Assistance: Hales Franciscan offers two types of aid: merit and need based.
